I am not a huge fan of the radio barker that declares his refinance loan for your house is the biggest no brainer in the history of earth. Major hyperbole. That being said, we ARE about to experience the biggest no brainer in the history of construction in Denver. We are bringing the AGC America Convention to Denver on April 1-4 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Colorado Convention Center. The convention offers over 100 professional development and how-to sessions, thought provoking committee and division meetings and discussions, and endless impromptu discussions with top contractors from across the US and abroad. Yes you can volunteer for a national committee and do the poo-bah deal, but you can also attend the sessions and soak up competitive advantage like a giant sponge. Your pick. Or do both. Spoiler alert – The convention halls are filled with the top CM Program students from the elite CM programs around the country, who are here to network and you guessed it, get a great job at a great company. I bet a lot of them would love to move to Denver if asked. My observation attending these conventions for the past 20 years is that there is a direct correlation between the contractors that attend, and the contractors that are the most successful. So the question is, with the biggest no brainer in the history of construction coming to Denver, will you take advantage of the opportunity and gain a competitive advantage over the crowded Denver field of builders, or will you let your competitor do the same to you? I consider this a bargain because every other year, you have to add in airfare, a hotel room, and a restaurant and bar bill. April 2 is Colorado Day and our Specialty Contractor’s Council will be leading a technology in construction presentation from 9-10:30am.
