E LIGHT ELECTRIC – Excellence in Electrical In 2018 E Light celebrated 20 years of excellence in electrical contracting and David Wright, Vice President of Preconstruction has been there for just about all of them. “I worked my way up from the field to the front office,” says Wright, now in his 18th year with the company. “I love working on challenging projects with the great people who make them a reality in the field.” Today, E Light employs between 250 and 300 electrical professionals working from offices in Denver and Colorado Springs. With a specialized portfolio of large commercial applications, E Light maintains a strong presence in healthcare and has been Colorado’s number one solar contractor for seven years in a row with electrical licenses in 11 states. The firm also does routine, as-needed, and emergency service work and takes great pride in having recently passed more than 6.5 million-man hours in the field with no lost time due to excellent safety. Integration of systems, solutions, processes, and possibilities is a continual focus at E Light. Software programs like Bluebeam, iAuditor, Revit, and AUTOCAD MEP among others are all seamlessly incorporated into project development to control costs, improve schedules, and decrease risks. Continual staff training and the advancement of prefabrication strategies are essential to E Light’s objectives. Among the many interesting projects E Light worked on in 2018, Pilatus is a 114,000-SF hanger at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield that functions as a U.S.-based finishing station for a Swedish custom private aircraft maker. “We pay our electricians to take classes right here at E Light,” shares Wright. “We invest in our employees and are able to tailor our training to our challenges, so we eliminate problems and increase performance.” David Wright, Vice President of Preconstruction - E Light Electric From their headquarters in Lakewood, Encore Electric meets client needs on a wide range of commercial construction projects throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. The company’s nearly 900 professionals working out of six offices in Colorado and a Cheyenne location, are led by Willis Wiedel, President of Encore Electric and one of the firm’s founders. “42 years in electrical contracting have taught me that you can’t provide excellent customer support and services without having excellent people,” says Wiedel. “We find top-notch people want a high degree of challenge in their work, so we target the most complex and demanding projects our clients have as a focus.” Wiedel points to the continually evolving technologies like Total Station optical measuring and three- dimensional modeling, along with the integration of real-time information sharing and project coordination with others as the fundamentals setting the pace in today’s electrical contracting. The results at Encore Electric are higher quality, better management, fewer conflicts in the field, and more certainty. “Integrating modeling and virtual coordination into our prefabrication process really allows crews to move fast, with little waste or mistakes, says Wiedel. “It’s also facilitating great partnership with clients, designers, and trade partners. It’s really a win, win for the owner in terms of time, money, and confidence.” Encore invests heavily in staff training and individual career advancement. Understanding the specific abilities, career interests, and long-term objectives of each individual working for Encore has helped the company grow and individuals to advance in unison.
