WEIFIELD GROUP CONTRACTING – Our People Make the Difference Today’s E lectrical Contractor By Sean O’Keefe Taking a quick pulse of the industry, it’s clear that today’s electrical contractor is thriving in Colorado and beyond. Four firms from Colorado’s pool of many, give us their take on the state of the state, the challenges they face, and what they are doing to integrate innovation into their projects and businesses. Weifield Group was founded in 2002 and today employs some 580 professionals working from offices in Centennial and Windsor, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Spicewood, Texas just outside of Austin. As a national presence in cutting-edge electrical construction, Weifield combines its team’s professional expertise with the latest technological innovations to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient buildings. “We meet the challenges of today’s electrical contracting by focusing on our people,” says Seth Anderson, Weifield CEO, one of four company founders. “We employ highly-skilled electricians who are interested in challenging work. We invest in training them and align the individual’s expertise with challenges of appropriate complexity, maximizing productivity and professional growth.” Asked about industry-wide innovations, Anderson quickly points to the increased integration between three-dimensional modeling technology and cost estimating systems. Using technology to previsualize all of a building’s electrical layouts, materials, and equipment in a program tied directly to the financial model allows Weifield to define changing costs in response to changing conditions in real-time when needed. Anderson and the team at Weifield Group are also working hard to support general contractors who are engaging prefabrication tactics to streamline construction and reduce trade congestion on their projects. Seth Anderson, CEO - Weifield Group “We have a dedicated leadership and training program for up- and-coming talent, all of our software systems are as integrated as technology allows, and every one of our field team is trained in our pre-fab shop before going out in the field,” says Anderson. “Talent is at a premium these days and we are working very hard to create a culture that attracts, retains, and inspires the very best.” For Weifield Group, their people make the difference. Acknowledging great work is something the firm takes quite seriously in support of an overall culture of professional excellence. 32 | Colorado Construction & Design
