 Wells Concrete and Rocky Mountain Prestress Join to become One of the Top Precast Companies in the Country  Wells Concrete, the largest and most innovative precast solutions provider in the upper Midwest, recently announced that it has acquired all significant business assets of Rocky Mountain Prestress, which has been an integral part of the Denver business community for 60 years. The joint venture, operating under the name of Wells Concrete, positions the company as one of the top five largest precast companies in the U.S., reaching from Canada to New Mexico and Wisconsin to Colorado. Rocky Mountain Prestress’ Denver team will remain in place, providing consistency for current customers and day-to-day operations. A new plant located in Brighton, CO is expected to be completed next year. Upon completion, this plant will enhance current capability and flexibility in the Denver market. Until then, existing plants at 5801 Pecos and 301 W. 60th Place will be fully operational. Founded in 1957, Minneapolis-based Wells Concrete is the largest precast provider in the upper Midwest. The company designs, manufactures and installs structural and architectural precast solutions. Denver-based Rocky Mountain Prestress has designed, fabricated and constructed structural and architectural precast concrete structures since 1958. The company has played integral roles in the construction of Denver International Airport, the Jefferson County Justice Center, Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, the Aurora Justice and Municipal Center, and numerous total-precast office buildings throughout the Denver metro area. Texas Couple’s $1.4 Million Gift to Support Regis University Athletics Gift to construct new practice facility on Northwest Denver Campus Colorado State University Selects DLR Group for Design Services DLR Group has been hired by Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo) to design the renovation and addition to its popular Psychology building, which currently houses six departments in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Built in 1975, the building has become technologically and spatially limited; upgrades to the building will provide students and staff with up-to-date learning environments. The design-build team also includes HW Houston Construction. The $12.8 million project is expected to complete in time for the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year. A Texas couple has donated $1.4 million to Regis University’s Athletics program to build a premiere practice facility to provide additional training space and accommodations for student athletes. The Berce Athletic Center will be a multi-functional practice facility featuring two full basketball courts, volleyball courts, auxiliary centers for athletics training, strength and conditioning, and more. The largest single gift to the Athletics department kicks off the first phase of the University’s 20-year Master Plan. Construction is set to begin in July with an anticipated opening in November. Dan and Annie Berce, of Fort Worth, Texas, are Regis alumni – Dan earned his accounting degree at Regis in 1975 while Annie earned a degree in Business Administration in 1977. Dan serves on the Board of Trustees at Regis and has been an active volunteer leader at the Jesuit, Catholic university for many years. “We are tremendously grateful and proud that Dan and Annie have made this gift that supports our students and student-athletes,” said University President the Rev. John P. Fitzgibbons, S.J. “Their leadership and support for Regis University is truly making a difference today in the lives of our students, and with this new practice facility, the entire campus community will benefit from their generosity.” The approximately 24,000-square- foot facility will be located north of the Regis Field House on its Northwest Denver Campus at W. 50th Ave. and Federal Boulevard. “The Berce Athletic Center transforms our campus and athletics program by providing expanded opportunities for all, including our surrounding community,” said David Spafford, assistant vice president and director of Athletics. 12 | Colorado Construction & Design AEC Industry News
