Ware Malcomb Announces Construction is Complete on Yale 25 Station Apartments Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced construction is complete on the new Yale Station apartments located at 5121 East Yale Avenue in Denver. Yale Station is a five-story, transit-oriented senior living apartment complex ideally located in the heart of Denver close to restaurants, shopping and transportation. The project totals 186,500 square feet including the lobby and underground parking. Due to parking constraints, the site’s stormwater detention vault was split into two parts and connected by pipe. The Ware Malcomb team designed an underdrain system to route water to the detention vault to accommodate the high groundwater levels. Chris Strawn, Principal, Civil Engineering. “We worked closely with the project team to solve any engineering challenges and ensure the vision for Yale Station was executed.” Ware Malcomb provided civil engineering services for the project and the General Contractor for the project was Shaw Construction. Crested Butte Emergency Services Facilities D2C Architects has been working collaboratively with the Town of Crested Butte’s Marshal’s Office, The Crested Butte Fire Protection District and Crested Butte Search and Rescue on their current needs analysis, planning and design services for 2 Emergency Services Building Projects. The facilities include: Renovating the existing Fire Station One to convert into a Police Station for the Marshal’s Office, exploring the alternative to expand the Marshal’s current office location which once was a middle school, and building a New Crested Butte Fire Protective District and Search and Rescue groups. Pinkard Construction Completes Occupied Renovation of Sierra Vista Affordable Apartments Pinkard Construction, with owner Sierra Vista Housing Partners, owner’s representative The ITEX Group, and WORKSHOP8 architects, has completed renovations of the $10.9 million Sierra Vista Affordable Apartments in Denver. The 40+ year old, 209-unit facility, which consists of four, three-story wings radiating from a central clubhouse-hub was renovated on a rolling-occupancy basis. The renovation plan, developed with input from the owner and architect, included a wing-by-wing approach, with each wing requiring approximately 90 days to complete. During each 90-day cycle, affected residents were moved to extended stay facilities. Pinkard contracted the demolition/abatement contractor, who worked closely with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) subcontractors to complete rough-in layouts during the demolition/ abatement phase. Pinkard also provided design-build mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services during preconstruction. \]The project was partially funded with 4% Low Income Tax Credits (LIHTC), and was designed and constructed to conform to Enterprise Green Communities Criteria. Substantial completion was achieved October 2018. 16 | Colorado Construction & Design Project Updates
